Hello to all, this update is not easy to write.
Recently I was informed of a dear friends passing. Luis Goncalves was more then a friend, he was family, from the first day we met on my very first dive he a presence in my life. He was always quick with a joke, helpful as a teacher, and his kindness to his family and friends made him stand out. His willingness to risk his life both in the service of his country in the Portuguese Military and in rescue operations with the Portuguese Coast Guard is a prime example of the selflessness and bravery this man displayed. No one ever had to ask who would would walk calmly into danger to save others, Luis was already moving.
He possessed the drive to succeed and the ability to bring people up with up with him instead of stepping on their heads to ring the bell. He was a a leader, a big tough marine with a heart of gold who would give you the shirt off his back. I can’t help but think that he still had so much good to do in this world.
Luis Goncalves passed away while diving off the coast of Portugal. He passed doing what he loved and at sea which if I knew the man at all is where he would have wanted to go if he had to.
Luis my friend it was an honor to have known you and spent time with you. Your company on this earth will be sorely missed. Your memory will be kept alive by the people you knew and loved you. Rest in peace brother.
